POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Control Scientist, as a member of the Manufacturing Team, ensures reliable and accurate test results on products in compliance with regulatory requirements for USDA product release.

JOB DUTIES

The Quality Control Associate must demonstrate competency and perform moderately complex testing as defined and supervised by the Quality Control Manager. The position requires independent judgment and interpretation under the direct supervisor.

  • Maintain appropriate and detailed records regarding testing of the finished product.
    • Record and distribute test results.
    • Prepare laboratory reports.
    • Log results into the Quality Control system.
    • Report results to the Quality Control Manager.
  • Perform testing as defined by the Quality Control Manager to confirm product quality.
    • Collect and log samples of product for analyses at defined checkpoints during production and following final formulation.
    • Choose appropriate materials for collection and sampling.
    • Fill out requisition forms for laboratory supplies.
    • Label all material for testing.
    • Maintain equipment records commensurate with Quality Analysis.
  • Prepare samples of finished products for testing or analyses to prepare for Quality Control testing.
    • Perform analysis using ELISA, Flow Cytometry, cell culture, and other techniques as defined by the Quality Management System.
    • Combine reagents, solutions, or antigens with specimens.
    • Separate samples as required.
    • Archive samples for further testing.
  • Prepare solutions, mediums, and buffers to be used by Quality Control staff in the completion of tests or studies.
    • Perform routine transfers, purities, and transfers of stock reagents.
    • Maintain cell cultures.
    • Inoculate cultures (bacterial, mammalian, insect, other).
    • Follow standardized recipes to prepare, mix, and store.
    • Autoclave media and solutions; and prepare reagents.
  • Perform tasks associated with animal care and husbandry.
    • Provide health checks and husbandry services for animals.
    • Conduct standardized testing and collection of data.
    • Maintain lab, storage areas, and treatment rooms.
    • Maintain hygienic conditions for animals.
    • Maintain cage cards, animal histories, and other records as required.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
